Restrict the movement of smoke with glass screens
The screens are intended to restrict the movement of the smoke below the ceiling layer and create a smoke reservoir effect, the significance of this being predominantly related to the provisions for means of escape.
Specifications of THERMAX smoke control screens
- The glass used in the smoke control screen is a 6mm or 10mm tempered fire-resisting safety glass.
- The glass has been developed for fire resistance applications (as defined in BS. 7346: Part 20 et seq) in varying thickness and pane size for in excess of ½ hour compliance with integrity.
- Significant pane sizes have been evaluated for 1 hour integrity.
- The glass is drilled along the upper edge and bushed to take a support bolt and bracket that is attached to a steelwork support frame.
- The glass screens are made up from equal panels with minimal expansion gaps left between the individual panels.
